Tips for learning English from scratch
Here are some useful tips to help you learn English from scratch and get a good ‘language foundation’.
Start with elements of Basic English:
With just a few elements of English you can make several combinations that will be of great help to us to get by in the language. These are:
Basic verbs . Such as the verbs ‘to be’ (ser, estar), ‘to have’ (tener), ‘to do’ (hacer or auxiliary verb), ‘to want’ (querer), ‘Can’ (Auxiliar or poder). These verbs are the most used with a greater difference with respect to the rest.
Basic grammar. It is important to start with the basic verbs such as the present simple, present continuous and imperative. It is also important to start working with articles, pronouns and the most basic prepositions.
Basic vocabulary. It is advisable to start with simple nouns and adjectives about the things that are around you such as a table, a chair... and adjectives such as beautiful, ugly, big... With a few words and adjectives you will be well on your way to making your first sentences.
Listening exercises on the routines in English: This is highly recommended to improve our listening skills in a simple way.
Learn thematically: It will be easier to remember the knowledge learned if we start learning the vocabulary, to formulate sentences and structures by themes. For example, greetings, work, going on a journey...
Plan ahead: Once we have all the material we need, we will divide it according to the time we consider appropriate. This will help us to plan and not waste a single day thinking about what I can study today.
Find someone to practice with. Practising English from the very beginning, with a native speaker or with a good level of English, will help us to improve our pronunciation and listening skills.
We hope these little tips will help you to start learning English from scratch.
